In the first year of life, the plant forms a leaf rosette, 0.3-0.5 m high, in the second year the stems reach 1 m in length. Celery leaves are pinnately dissected, the upper surface is shiny, the lower is matte. The stem is erect, branched and grooved. The inflorescence is a small umbrella with small flowers. The flowers are colored yellow or white. Rounded fruits of a brownish-brown color, 1.5-2 mm in diameter, are formed from the inflorescences. The root of root celery is spherical or round-flat, fleshy; the root system of petiolate and leaf celery is fibrous.
